Bus enthusiast David Beddall has compiled this guide to bus types that have been taken into stock in smaller quantities by London’s bus operators since 1986. These include London Buses itself, its successors and other companies that have operated services within or serving Greater London such as County Bus, Grey Green, Kentish Bus, and London & Country.
Vehicle types covered include models built by Dennis, MAN, Mercedes, Optare, Volvo and Wrightbus among others.

Most of these are single deckers but double decker models only ordered in small numbers are also included, such as the Volvo Ailsa, the Dennis Dominator and the short-lived BCI tri-axle 12.5m long double decker trialled by TfL on route 12.

For each vehicle type the book describes its operations with each company that uses or used that model of vehicle, and there is a good selection of previously unpublished photos of all models. The last chapter looks at the coach fleets of London Transport, London Buses, London Coaches and the privatised London coach operators that used coaches on private hire, driver training and rail replacement services. Illustrated throughout with around 180 colour photographs. 216 pages.
