A scenic journey through the delightful Hampshire countryside along the route of what is now the Mid-Hants Railway. Some of the images date back to the time before the heritage railway operation, and these are complemented by many more recent photographs from the heritage era.

Then book begins with an account of the story so far, touching briefly on the original construction of the line before looking at the reasons for decline and eventual closure in the Beeching era. This is followed by an account of the operation mounted to save the line and the progress made since the 1970s in turning the Watercress Line into one of Britain’s premier preserved lines.

The reader is then taken on a journey along the line, with illustrations that include many important pieces of infrastructure, every station and some of the key events that have taken place since the line re-opened to the public.

Later chapters look at engineering facilities and the railway’s motive power depot, special events and visiting locomotives. A locomotive stock list is also included. Well illustrated with colour and black & white photographs, maps, diagrams and poster reproductions. Hardback. 96 pages.
