In Reading’s Buses 2010–2019: A Decade of Colour and Change the author, Julian Walker, has produced a photographic album illustrating the development of the bus network in Reading over the period 2010–2019. He has put together a collection of his own photographs showing the vehicles that entered service, and the changes to their liveries, during this time.
The book starts with a short history of the town’s public transport including its tram and trolleybus systems. This is followed by a history of Reading Buses between 2000 and 2010 during which the operator introduced the Premier Routes concept, giving each core route its own identity and colour scheme. After this there are sections covering each year from 2010 to 2019, each section consisting of a short introduction which is followed by a number of photographs. The majority of the photographs are arranged in two-per-page format and accompanied by a detailed caption. At the end of the book the author takes a brief look at events occurring over the periods 2020-2021, and 2022-2023, which includes the effects of the Covid19 pandemic on services.
