Stoke-on-Trent area bus operator D&G Bus has a remarkable history, having started with just four minibuses in 1998. Back then few would have imagined that 25 years later it would become one of the area’s main players and would overtake its neighbour, First Potteries.
During that time D&G has expanded considerably through acquisition of other local operators and the takeover of an increasing number of tendered services following the collapse of other bus undertakings.
Closure of Arriva North West’s depots in Macclesfield and Winsford also created opportunities for D&G to grow its operations outside its existing area. Over the years D&G has operated a varied and interesting fleet, including van-derived minibuses in its early days followed by Dennis Darts, Optare and Alexander Dennis vehicles.
This book, written and illustrated by former part time D&G driver Cliff Beeton, illustrates the rich and varied story of this operator over the last 25 years. 96 pages.
