Keith Jenkinson’s Bus Breakers of the UK begins with a relatively detailed history of bus breakers in the UK, going back to the earliest such businesses in the 1920s, and looking at some of the leading players in this field across the country over the last 100 years. At the end of this section the author briefly describes how with new, more stringent, health & safety regulations the number of older established breakers has diminished, as the scrapping methods previously used have been affected by tougher environmental regulations.

Then follows a collection of photographs, from the 1950s to the present day, which were taken at scrapyards across the UK. The photographs feature a variety of buses being dismantled or awaiting their fate, and also include some of trams and trolleybuses being disposed of. Some of the most recent examples illustrated include modern low-floor buses and even gas, hybrid and electric vehicles. The majority of the photographs are arranged in two-per-page format and they are all accompanied by a detailed caption.

130 colour and 24 black & white photographs. 96 pages.
