An illustrated look at the iconic Bristol Lodekka bus. Please note, this book is a re-issue in softback binding of the 2014-published title, Bristol Lodekka: In Colour, from Ian Allan Publishing.

The Bristol Lodekkas first appeared in service in 1949, in the midst of a period when the road passenger-transport industry was enjoying a peak in popularity and passenger numbers were among their highest ever in the provinces. The Lodekka was supplied only to state-owned transport operators, yet some 5,217 examples were built between 1949 and 1968, making it one of the most familiar British double-deck bus types throughout the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

Bristol Lodekka contains a wide variety of photographs, illustrating the Lodekka in a range of different liveries and seen at locations around the country at work with many different operators. The photographs are presented largely in chronological order and trace the development of the type, which saw continued operation in some areas until late in the 20th century.

Contains over 100 illustrations, the vast majority of which are in colour. 96 pages.
