Stuart Emmett has put together this collection of photographs of motorbuses in the West Yorkshire city of Bradford between the 1930s and the early 1970s, with the main focus being on the bus network and vehicle fleet as it was in 1961. There is a short history of the city and its public transport systems and a 1961 route map and list of routes.

Most of the photographs are arranged by year, starting in 1933 and finishing in 1972, just prior to the takeover of the city’s bus services by West Yorkshire PTE from Bradford Corporation in 1974. There are also a few pages of photos taken in key locations such as Leeds Road, Union Street and Manchester Road.

A good variety of vehicles are illustrated, including rear and front entrance buses and single deckers. At the back there is a short chapter on service vehicles. Although the main focus of the book is on motorbuses, some of the city’s famous trolleybuses are visible in a few of the photos. Contains 363 colour and black & white photographs. 176 pages.
