This book takes a look at the Southern Railway between its formation as one of the “Big Four” railway companies in 1923 and the end of World War II.
It contains photographs of all classes of locomotive built for the Southern Railway during this period, with some locomotives constructed for its constituent companies being illustrated at the start of the book.
Coaches and multiple units are also featured, including some interior views, and there is a chapter featuring a selection of stations across the Southern network. These include the London termini of Victoria and Waterloo, along with several smaller stations ranging from Margate in the east to the long-gone Bude station in Cornwall.
Contains over 200 black & white photographs, each being accompanied by an informative caption. Hardback. 160 pages.
