This is a history of the Tanfield Waggonway, a colliery railway dating back to the 1720s and still partly in use today as the preserved Tanfield Railway.

The book describes the opening and operation of the wagonway, firstly with horse-drawn wagons in the 18th century and then by steam during the 19th century and through to closure in the 1960s. There are also chapters on the locmotives used on the line and changes of ownership. Approximately 30 colour and 50 black & white illustrations. 96 pages.
