This is a history and route guide to the East Coast Main Line between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh, a route long associated with the Flying Scotsman (both the train and the locomotive from which it gets its name).

The book is divided into sections covering each part of the route, along with detailed descriptions of some of the key locations such as Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Darlington and Newcastle as well as the termini of King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley.

There is a good selection of photographs of trains through the ages from the steam, diesel and electric eras including LNER A3 and A4 Class steam locos, Deltics, HSTs, Class 91s and the present day Azuma trainsets. Contains over 100 photographs, mostly colour. Hardback. 144 pages.
