This book contains a selection of mostly unpublished images from the vast collection of railway photos and slides held in the archives of the Manchester Locomotive Society, founded in 1935, and based at their clubrooms on Stockport station.
Locations depicted range from Shap in the north to Stafford in the south and from Peak Forest in the east to Shrewsbury and Llandudno in the west. The date range covered by the photos runs from the Victorian era to the mid-2020s.
Most of the photos are of locomotives and trains of the London & North Western and Lancashire and Yorkshire Railways and their successor, the LMS, but some Midland and Great Western Railway subjects are also included along with some from the British Rail and post-privatisation eras.
250 black & white photos. 168 pages. Hardback.
