During the 1870s in Halifax, the Holdsworth family were in business trading as carriers and removal services, using horse-drawn vehicles. From 1913 they expanded into operating motor vehicles, developing their haulage business and running excursions. In 1922 the Holdsworth brothers, Oliver and Charles, began running unlicensed bus services under the company name O. & C. Holdsworth, this became Hebble Bus Services in 1927, but from 1924 they had already been operating the service as ‘Hebble’, the name of a local river in Halifax. In Hebble Motor Services Limited, Halifax & Bradford, author Stuart Emmett, presents in detail the complex company history up until the Hebble name came to an end in late 1975. Information on routes and vehicles, a stage route map, and photographs accompanied by detailed captions, are included along with appendices and a fleet list.

97 colour and 177 black & white photographs. 168 pages.
