The Teutoburg Forest Railway (Teutoburger Wald-Eisenbahn), spanning approximately 100 km between Ibbenbüren and Hövelhof, serves northeastern Westphalia and ranks among Germany’s longest non-federally owned railways.

This book tells the story of this interesting railway and describes the route and stations, its ownership changes and its varied passenger and freight traffic and motive power including detailed descriptions of all locos and railcars to have operated on the route.

The line progressively closed to passengers during the 1960s and 1970s, with parts of the route being blocked completely by flooding for a time in the 2010s. Because of this, the line has faced an uncertain future but has since seen a number of so far never realised schemes to reinstate a regular passenger service. In addition, occasional steam and diesel charter trains have operated over the route for many years.

Superbly illustrated throughout with around 300 photographs, mostly in black & white. German text. Hardback. 192 pages.
