In 1933, an express railcar service was introduced between Hamburg and Berlin. Running at a maximum speed of 160 km/h, the railcars soon gained the name 'Flying Hamburgers'. In their later years, the units could be found working on regional services around Germany.

By the start of World War 2 in 1939, over 30 cities were linked by these express railcar services. Following the war, the units were often too small to operate on these long-distance routes and were gradually replaced with longer trains.

This DVD contains archive footage of these trains operating around Germany between the 1930s and their retirement. More recent footage of preserved units is also included, allowing for them to be seen in full colour.

German commentary. 58 minutes running time.
