Newcastle-raised enthusiasts Craig Oliphant and Colin Alexander have put together this collection of their photographs of the legendary Class 55 Deltics in their last few months of frontline service on the East Coast Main Line between 1979 and their withdrawal in early 1982.

The black & white photographs are presented in one-per-page format, with a detailed caption accompanying each. The locomotives are depicted on a variety of passenger workings and railtours, including the farewell tours in late 1981 and early 1982, and at a number of depot open days such as that at Doncaster Works just after their withdrawal from service.

In the last few photographs, the surviving examples are depicted in preservation, both in the early days after the end of BR service and more recently, and at the Locomotion museum in Shildon. Hardback. 80 pages.
