Colin Alexander has compiled this album of black & white images from the Neville Stead collection of Class 25, 26 and 27 diesel locomotives taken between 1983 and 1988, in their last few years of service.

The photographs are arranged in date order and feature the locos on a variety of passenger and freight workings and on shed in locations across the north of England and Scotland. Locations depicted include Carlisle, Newcastle, the Glasgow & South Western and Kyle of Lochalsh lines, and the Fife Circle where Class 27s saw regular use on Dundee to Edinburgh trains for a time in the mid-1980s. Other notable trains featured include an Aberystwyth to London Euston service and deputising for a failed locomotive. Hardback. 80 pages.
