Colin Alexander has put together this collection of black & white images from the Neville Stead collection of Class 40 diesel locos taken between 1978 and the withdrawal of celebrity D200/40122 from BR service in 1988.

The photographs are arranged in date order and feature the locos on a variety of passenger and freight workings across the north of England. These include several workings on the North Trans-Pennine and Settle & Carlisle routes, both regular haunts for the class for a number of years. The last photo features D200/40122 on a Class 40 farewell charter from London Liverpool Street to Norwich, a route associated with the class in their early years of operation. Hardback. 80 pages.
