Henry Conn has compiled this collection of photographs by David and John Clarke of Glasgow tramways in 1956.

In that year it was decided to reduce and ultimately close the city’s tramway system, and 1956 saw the closure of many interurban routes such as those serving Airdrie, Barrhead, Coatbridge, Milngavie, Paisley and Renfrew.

The photographs are from all over the network including many of the routes closed in 1956. Trams featured are a mixture of Coronation and older Standard cars, and there is also one photo of car 1003, one of four experimental vehicles built by Glasgow Corporation in 1940. A few buses and trolleybuses are also visible in some of the photographs

Contains around 130 black & white photographs. Hardback. 136 pages.
