This book presents a series of black & white photographs of locomotives operated by London Underground over the years. Photographs include the Metropolitan Railway's steam locomotives, which ran through smoky tunnels under London, then out into the suburbs and into Metroland.

Later electric locomotives are also covered, as well as the ex-Great Western pannier tanks working on departmental duties during their later years.
