The V 100 diesel locomotives are one of the most well-known classes of locomotive used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in Germany. Over the period of twenty years, well over 1000 of the locomtives were built at the LEW Hennigsdorf plant near Berlin.

The class was designed to replace steam motive power on light to medium heavy passenger and freight trains.

This book, the first of two volumes covering the V 100 (later Class 110) locomotives provides an introduction to the locomotives as well as a look at the technical details and the construction of the locomotives between 1966 and 1985. The various variants of the class are also covered, as are conversions carried out by Alstom and Adtranz during the 1990s to modernise the locomotives.

This highly detailed volume is comprehensively illustrated with over 550 black & white photographs and technical diagrams. German text. Hardback. 320 pages.
