The three German Class ET 11s were the only pre-World War 2 express electric multiple units, alongside the Zossen test units.

The units entered service from 1937 onwards and were permitted to run at 120 km/h. With the outbreak of war, investment in high-speed electrified railways was halted. The units survived the war and were brought into service around Munchen, including for military use.

Two of the units were scrapped in 1967, with the other becoming a measurement train, before being saved for preservation with DGEG.

This book traces the history of the units and includes technical details and a thorough examination of the use of the vehicles throughout their lives.

German text. Hardback. 112 pages, including over 200 archive black & white photographs.
