The first volume of a highly detailed history of the German Class 57(10-35) steam locomotives.

Designed at the beginning of the 20th century for Prussian State Railways, over 2,500 locomotives were built between 1910 and 1924 by nine difference manufacturers. Initially classified as Prussian G10s, the locomotives played an important role in both World Wars.

This first volume describes the history and origin of these locomotives, using over 400 black & white photographs and extensive technical details. The vehicles built in Germany are listed in full, with complete allocation details included, covering up to the end of World War II. The locomotives that were exported as part of the reparations following World War I are also covered.
