In Alte Meister der Eisenbahn-Photographie: Burkhard Wollny Frank Lüdecke has put together a collection of railway photographs taken by Burkhard Wollny, most of which were shot between the late 1960s and the early 1980s.

Wollny grew up in Stuttgart, and most of his early photos are of steam locos and steam-hauled passenger and freight trains in his home state of Baden-Württemberg and neighbouring Bayern (Bavaria). Later he began to venture to further afield, other parts of West Germany, East Germany (DDR), Poland and he took some photos in Austria (including narrow gauge steam). Most of the images are of steam, but some diesel and electric locos are also included. There is a good mixture of station and lineside shots, along with locos on shed and being prepared for service.

This book is part of EK-Verlag’s “Alte Meister der Eisenbahn-Photographie” (“Old Masters of railway photography”) series.

Around 180 black & white photos. German text. Hardback. 144 pages.
