This DVD contains footage of railways in East Germany from 1955 onwards, when the DDR was gradually re-electrifying its railways and introducing new types of locomotives into service.

Footage includes some of the electric locomotive types introduced during this period, including E11, E42, 250, 243, 212 and 252 locomotives, many of which were built at the LEW works in Hennigsdorf near Berlin.
