In Valleys Pacer Farewell author, Jeremy Segrott, has produced a photographic album which concentrates on the 30 Pacer DMU units, based at Canton Depot, which ran on the South Wales Valley Lines franchise.
The Pacer DMU was first produced in the late 1980s as a low budget filler. Based on the Leyland bus they were functional, running for over thirty years carrying passengers on both rural and urban lines. Half of the fleet were Class 142 units, brought in from the north of England as an addition to the Class 143 units already in use.
The images provide a detailed record of the final years of the units, covering the period between 2016 and 2021. The photographs are presented in one-per-page format and are accompanied by informative captions.
