The Settle to Carlisle Line is a collection of photographs from the author, John Bentley, featuring the Settle & Carlisle route over the last ten years. The railway route between Settle & Carlisle in the North West of England is one of the most scenic lines in Britain. Crossing moors and mountainside, through the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines, the line is famous for its spectacular views, its tunnels and its viaducts, not least the legendary Ribblehead Viaduct. The images feature a mix of regular passenger trains, steam-operated specials, charter trains and freight trains, plus railway infrastructure, stations, viaducts and scenery. After the introduction the images are arranged into stretches along the line:
- Hellifield to Settle Junction
- Settle Station
- On the Train
- The Long Drag
- Horton in Ribblesdale Station
- Ribblehead
- The Former Ribblehead Quarry
