A collection of high-quality colour images recording the changing scene on Britain’s railways in 2022. All the images are taken by members of the Railway Correspondence and Travel Society, one of Britain’s best known and longest established railway societies.
The photographs are drawn from the considerable number of submissions made to the RCTS magazine, The Railway Observer, which records events on the railway throughout the year. Limitations of space mean that it is only possible to reproduce a small proportion of the images submitted; the intention of this book is to showcase the best selection of unpublished images, combined with some of the very best that did make it into the RO.
Each image is reproduced in large full page landscape format, with caption detail included below. A variety of subjects and geographical locations have been chosen to give balance to the volume, whilst at all times ensuring the images are interesting, relevant and form an appropriate record of the year.
The volume is divided into 12 chapters – one for every month of the year, presented in chronological order. An introduction also provides an overview of key rolling stock developments in 2022 and other events affecting the standing of the railway in general. Hardback. 160 pages.
