In this book, author Steve Chapman presents a review of branch lines in Britain since the end of steam operation in 1968.
Photographs largely cover the 1970s to the 1990s, with a few older and more recent images also included. The photographs are arranged geographically in chapters, with each image being accompanied by an informative caption, providing background information about the line, train service and rolling stock depicted.
As branch lines were (and still are) generally operated by multiple units, the majority of the images show first or second generation multiple units, but some loco-hauled passenger and freight trains are also included, where these trains operated.
British Rural & Commuter Branch Lines since 1968 provides an illustrated review of rural and commuter branch lines in the post-steam era. 126 pages.
