In this book, author Ray King discusses his career on the railways, from how be became interested in the railways to his work on the modern railway.

From starting work at Cambridge station fresh from school, Ray became involved in the preservation of the Mid-Norfolk Railway during its early years. Ray also worked as a fireman for Norfolk Fire Service at Diss for over thirty years and was a keen railway photographer. He was also involved in organising railtours over some of East Anglia's freight only branches.

Later in his career Ray worked at Norwich Crown Point depot and his work here during the 1980s and early-1990s is discussed, including the introduction of DMUs. Trips abroad and Ray's involvement in the Bressingham Steam Museum are also covered.
