An album of colour images commemorating the photographic work of RCTS members John Cowlishaw between 1980 and 2020. From his days at university to working as an engineering consultant, John was able to travel all over the network and he recorded the railway scene wherever it crossed his path.
The book is arranged by 20 different themes, depicting trains working on everything from China Clay to Coal, Timber and Nuclear, an industry in which John spent many years. There is also a section on Wrexham where John spent much of his life. Passenger trains are illustrated but the majority of the book is concerned with freight subjects.
A Photographic Journey from 1980 to 2020 is presented in landscape format and with one photo-per-page to do full justice to John’s work. Every image is supported by an informative caption covering not only the train illustrated, but also John’s extensive and instructive anecdotes. Hardback. 168 pages.
