An album of archive black & white photographs of early British Rail diesel locomotives in action during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Photographs feature many of the locomotive types trialled in the years following the 1955 British Railways Modernisation Plan and cover both the successful classes, such as the Class 47, along with types which would only have short operating lives.
