This is a history of the North Sunderland Railway, which ran from Chathill to the Northumberland coastal town Seahouses via North Sunderland (several miles north of its namesake in Tyne & Wear!) from 1898 until 1951.

There are chapters on the construction of the line, the route described, locomotives used on the line, coaching stock, operations, train services and tickets, closure, and accidents. There are several line drawings of locomotives and coaching stock, and scans of tickets and timetables.

At the back there is a full list of locos known to have worked on the NSR. This is a third edition of a book first published in 1967, which was followed by a second enlarged edition in 1988. Approximately 65 black & white photographs. 120 pages.
