The 21 mile journey between Preston and Lancaster forms part of the West Coast Main Line and sees trains running between the two cities in just 20 minutes, with no intermediate stops. However, in the past, the line was host to several small stations and saw both local stopping trains and express trains heading to and from Scotland.
Preston to Lancaster is part of the Middleton Press Northern Lines series and is an album of black & white images illustrating a journey along the line using images taken from throughout the line's existence. The first half of the book contains images of Preston station and main line north and south from the station, with the rest of the book covering Lancaster and the closed intermediate stations.
Over 100 photographic illustrations are accompanied by Informative captions providing further details about the history of the line. Several maps, track plans, ticket examples and other period reproductions are also included. 96 pages. Hardback.
