This book contains a selection of colour photographs of tramways in Portugal, taken between 1985 and 2018.

In 1985, the prospects for the remaining tramways in Portugal looked bleak, with investment in and usage of the tramways in a state of rapid decline. Porto's system had declined to just three routes, with the capital, Lisbon, only having seven remaining. Many routes were being operated with tramcars dating back as far as the early 20th century.

Fortunately, since 1985, tramways in Portugal have been through a renaissance, with two new systems appearing and the introduction of Metro systems in Porto and Almada.

Photographs are split into chapters, each covering a light rail system:

  • Porto
  • Lisboa
  • Sintra
  • Coimbra
  • Metro do Porto
  • Metro Transportes do Sul

Captions accompany each photograph and an introduction to each system is also included. Hardback. 144 pages.
