An illustrated review of the popular DR Class V 180 diesel locomotives, which were later renumbered as Class 118s with DR and then DBAG Class 228s.

A total of 169 locomotives were built throughout the 1960s for DR by Lokomotivbau Karl Marx in Babelsberg. The class was intended to accelerate the transition from steam motive power in East Germany.

This magazine publication contains various articles looking at the history of the class and at the working lives of the locomotives with both DR and DBAG. This issue of Bahn Extra also incorporates several nostalgic articles looking at railways in Germany, as usually published in the Bahn Epoche series of magazines.

All articles are well-illustrated throughout with archive colour and black & white photographs. German text. 114 pages.
