The first in a series of four books by Jim Blake, which together will give an overall picture of the London Country area though the 1970s and into the early 1980s.

Jim Blake begins here with the North East section of the London Country area, starting from the vicinity of the Great North Road he works eastwards around to the Grays and Tilbury area, with the River Thames as the southern boundary. He includes both the bus routes of the Country Area and the Green Line coach routes running into, and through, the area.

As well as showing the London Country era of the 1970s and early 1980s his photographs also cover the final years of London Transport operation in the 1960s. They display clearly how the standardised fleet of sixty or so years ago, which comprised mainly of RTs, RFs and Routemasters, along with a handful of GSs, changed dramatically from 1968 onwards, and illustrate how by 1982 all former London Transport types had gone.

310 black & white photographs are displayed in either 2 or 3-per-page format and accompanied by captions. Hardback. 124 pages.
