This book focusses on the trains hauled by Class 50s locomotives in and around the Taunton and Exeter area from 1973 to the present day. The book covers their work on all the main routes, branch lines and freight only routes with many pictures from both before and after the major refurbishment of the class.
John Heaton, British Rail's Area Manager at Exeter in the 1980s, when the Class 50 was a regular performer in the area, has provided the foreward and contributed to book to provide an operators view on the locomotives and their peformance.
The book is divided into chapters, each focussing on a line at one point worked by Class 50s. Each chapter consists of a series of colour photographs, each accompanied by basic captions. A brief history of the Class 50s and their work in the area is also included. Hardback. 152 pages.
