English Electric Class 50 Diesels: From the Western Region to Preservation (Pen & Sword)

£25.00
2 In Stock

An album of high-quality colour and black & white photographs of the popular Class 50 diesel locomotives of British Railways in action.

Author Peter Green first photographed a Class 50 in 1975, when they were being transferred from the London Midland to the Western Region. The locomotives soon regularly operated trains around his home town of Worcester, giving him ample opportunity to photograph the type.

This book is divided into chapters, each covering the locomotives at different stages of their lives:

  • The Class 50: A First Encounter
  • The Fifty Class 50s
  • Class 50s on Preserved Railways
  • Class 50s on Railtours
  • Class 50s for Scrap
  • Class 50s in Colour
  • Class 50 Nameplates and Crests
  • The Portuguese 1800 Class

Every one of the 50 class members are pictured and all of the main liveries carried by Class 50s are included. Each of the 300+ photographs are accompanied by informative captions. Hardback. 172 pages.
