The state of Wyoming is comprised of mountains and rangelands to the west, and high elevation plains to the east, giving rise to some of the most spectacular scenery to be found in the United States. The state is also home to several important railroads, including the transcontinental link which carries a vast amount of freight traffic every day and the secondary main line that traverses through some extraordinary scenery as it heads north and west towards Montana.

Railroads of Wyoming contains a collection of impressive and atmospheric photographs recording some of the traffic that has passed through Wyoming. The photographs date from the 1980s to the 2010s and often feature extremely long trains hauled by multiple locomotives, set against a scenic backdrop.

Several different locomotive types owned by various private operators are illustrated, including UP/Chicago & North Western and Burlington Northern/BNSF. Detailed captions provide more detail about each subject. The majority of images are presented in two-per-page format. 96 pages in colour.
