First opened in 1900, today the Paris Métro is one of the world’s most important underground railway networks with 14 lines and over 4 million passengers per day. L’histoire du Métro parisien racontée par ses plans presents the Métro system through numerous maps of the network, published from the early days of operation to the present day. Originally published in 2016, the book has been updated to take account of recent developments and extensions to the network.

The book is divided into chapters covering different eras, starting with the days before the Métro in the 19th century, covering the two world wars, developments since World War II, and finishing with the period since the early 1990s. As well as the maps, there are also photos of trains and stations, along with reproductions of leaflets, posters, brochures and other related ephemera which were published by transport operator RATP.

Numerous colour and black & white maps. 184 pages.
