An album of over 200 colour photographs featuring the seventy-seven `Peak’ locomotives that became Class 45/0 under the TOPS renumbering system in the early 1970s. All the photographs are taken in the 1970s and 1980s and all 77 of these classic locomotives are illustrated.
The book is arranged into a series of chapters looking at Class 45/0 locomotives in particular situations, or working specific traffic flows, as follows:

These chapters are interspersed with 8 other sections looking at the class in numerical order, with every locomotive illustrated. Every photograph is accompanied by a caption giving historical or anecdotal information about the illustrated locomotive.
The Peaks 1: The 45/0s also includes appendices listing the introduction and withdrawal dates of every class member, both presented in chronological order. A full list of locomotive names – official and unofficial – completes the volume. 154 pages. Hardback.
