This book contains a selection of photographs taken in the latter part of the 20th and in the very early 21st century, covering the railways of South Wales and the Welsh section of the Central Wales line.

In the 1980s, passenger trains were largely in the hands of Class 37 and 47 locomotives, with the collieries and steelworks of South Wales also contributing a lot of freight traffic, these mostly being hauled by Class 37s. As the 20th century drew to a close, collieries were closing and freight traffic therefore reduced.

The commonly seen Class 37s were gradually replaced with Class 56s and 60s on freight trains and by HSTs and diesel multiple units on passenger trains.

This book contains almost 300 black & white photographs taken around South Wales and on the Central Wales Line during the period from the 1980s to the early 2000s. Photographs are arranged by location and each is accompanied by a caption. Hardback. 184 pages.
