Lower Ince shed in Wigan is only remembered by a few on account of the fact that it closed in 1952 after 68 years of service to the adjacent former Great Central route to Wigan Central. Chris Coates' book looks at more than the shed itself , examining some of the staff of the shed, the locomotives that worked from the shed and also the routes that Lower Ince locos would have covered.
