The fourth and concluding volume in this series of high quality colour albums, featuring photographs taken between 1954 and 1964 by acclaimed railway photographer, Tom Williams. As with the previous volumes, the emphasis is on presenting high quality colour images of steam locomotives at work, in one-per-page format and accompanied by as much comprehensive supporting information as possible.
As can be expected, this volume includes several of Tom’s favourite local vantage points throughout the counties surrounding his native Warwickshire, but his visits to many other areas of the country are also well documented. The former Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway, the East Coast Main Line and various lines in North Devon are all featured.
Many of the images have been selected, not just for their documentary of historical importance, but also for their artistic qualities which it is hoped will evoke a tangible sense of 'being there'. Also includes a short introduction to the photographer and a numerical index of all locomotives illustrated. 128 pages. Hardback.
