Plaxton launched its President model in 1997, with construction of the type commencing in 1999. Plaxton President bodies were combined with DAF, Dennis and Volvo chassis, with a total of around 1700 vehicles entering service in London between 1999 and 2005.
Vehicles saw service in London with First, Go-Ahead, Metroline, London United and Arriva, before being sent to other operators in those groups around Britain. Many of the former Arriva vehicles found themselves operating sightseeing tours under Arriva's 'Original Sightseeing Tour' branding.
