A short softback book showcasing some of the best Indian railway photographs, all taken from the Historical Railway Images archive. The book is presented in landscape format to best illustrate the images it contains.
Most of the images date from the early and middle years of the 20th century and several are official railway company or publicity photographs. Just under half of the photographs are reproduced in colour.
An historical background to the British Empire in India and a brief account of the beginnings of railways in India are also included. Railways of the Raj also includes three maps giving a basic overview of the extent of railways in India. 56 pages.
