A detailed history of the tram network in the western part of Dresden. The book starts with a general history of the city’s tramway system from its opening as a horse tramway in the 1870s to the present day covering the development of the network, openings and closures, and changes to the tram fleet.

There are then chapters on each of the five routes that operated in the western part of the city in the DDR era, describing how the routes developed and operated from opening until the present day. The photos have detailed captions and mostly date from the DDR era, so most of the illustrations are of Gotha, Tatra and older trams. Some photos of the more modern low-floor vehicles from recent years have also been included.

The last chapter describes the construction of the extension from Wölfnitz to Gorbitz, which opened in stages during the mid to late 1980s. 288 pages. Over 500 photos. German text. Hardback.
