This DVD takes a look at the history of the Deutschen Reichsbahn's Class E18 and E19 electric locomotives, which first entered service in the mid-1930s. At the time, they were the fastest locomotives on the German railway network, capable of 150 km/h and used on express passenger trains.
In 1938, the even faster E19s were built and intended to operate between Berlin and Munchen, however this did not happen due to the outbreak of war in 1939.
This DVD contains footage of the locomotives in action during their working lives as well as in preservation. The Austrian 1018 locomotives are also featured. Die Baureihen E18 und E19 profiles what were once the most powerful and fastest locomotives on Germany's railways.
