In this book the authors, Charlie Loarridge and Chris Romain, focus on the tramways of Aberdeen and Dundee, two smaller Scottish cities that were among the last to operate trams after World War II. In the 1950s, Peter Mitchell visited both systems several times, taking high-quality photographs that captured how the cities looked before major redevelopment. Although both cities are coastal and grew rapidly in the 19th century, their tram systems differed due to their geography, with Aberdeen having wider streets and mostly double track, while Dundee had steeper terrain and narrower streets with many single-track sections.
