The illustrated story of railways in the Bristol area from 1970 to the beginning of the 2020s. The book charts the decline and resurrection of railways around Bristol, from the area resignalling in 1970, coming right up-to date with latest electrification works.

Many of the illustrations in 50 Years of Railways Around Bristol have been taken by railway employees and give unique insights of train-care and maintenance depots, industrial plants and within signal boxes in the area, many of which have long since disappeared. Features many well-known locations but also railway byways and those serving the industrial complex at Avonmouth.

Extracts from official railway publications are also reproduced, including rare archive material and a unique set of maps covering each decade, which record the changes to the railways of Bristol. Also includes a foreword by Mark Hopwood CBE, Managing Director of Great Western Railway. 160 pages. Hardback.
